Xerox in Jamaica to become Conduent in 2017
Reliable sources indicate that beginning in January 2017, Xerox will start rebranding its business process outsourcing arm under the name “Conduent Inc” accompanied by changes in signage.
Xerox is separating into two publicly traded companies. The business process outsourcing company will be named “Conduent Inc” and the Document Technology company will continue to be called Xerox Corporation.
Xerox employs 6,500 people in Jamaica. This makes the local team the fourth-largest concentration among the company’s 130,000 workforce, following the US, India and the Philippines.
With 11 locations in the island, Jamaica provides support for corporations operating in industries such as health care, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, retail, transportation, and technology.
The restructuring process which began at mid-year will be accelerated with the rebranding.
Xerox indicates that Conduent will be a Fortune 500-scale business process services company with expertise in transaction-intensive processing, analytics and automation.
In a related release, the company said, “Conduent reflects the company’s position as a partner to businesses and governments, delivering customer care, transportation solutions, and health-care payer and provider services.”
“Conduent will begin its next chapter as a stand-alone company with a name that conveys the vital business we conduct every day,” said Ursula Burns, chairman and chief executive officer of Xerox.
The spin-off represents approximately US$7 billion in 2015 revenue and 96,000 employees worldwide.
The document technology company will retain the Xerox brand name, which is known globally for digital technology, software and services.
This unit has approximately US$11 billion in 2015 revenue and approximately 39,000 employees.
