Stur Gav in Clarendon
Stur Gav sound system takes its show on the road tonight with a gig at Obsession HQ in Kraal, Clarendon.
Pioneer deejay U Roy, who started Stur Gav over 40 years ago, will again be at the helm. Stalwarts Charlie Chaplin, General Trees and Brigadier Jerry are some of the artistes scheduled to perform.
The three deejays will be complemented by singer Anthony Cruz who makes his Stur Gav debut.
U Roy set up Stur Gav in his hometown of Cockburn Gardens while he was still recording hit songs. The ‘sound’ had a memorable run during the 1980s with Charlie Chaplin and fellow deejay Josey Wales, forming an effective tandem alongside selector Inspector Willie.
Stur Gav played throughout the United States and United Kingdom during that period. This year U Roy and his team have maintained a busy schedule at dances around the island.
