Noface Unknown rises above abuse
Dancehall deejay Noface Unknown said he has been receiving some bashing on social media since a photo with his scarred face was leaked.
“I am getting some abuse. But my supporters are showing me a lot of love. Nobody should be ashamed of how they look or be discriminated against because of their physical appearances, but ah just the ting go. Mi fans dem a rally to me, the songs dem a gwaan good,” he said.
According to the singjay, he suffered second-degree burns to his face five years ago in a house fire.
“The house caught fire and I went inside to get my mother out and a something exploded in the fire and I received severe burns to my face,” he said.
He plans to have corrective surgery to remove some of the scars and burns from his face.
“Mi a plan to do the surgery later this year when I save up enough money,” he said.
The entertainer told the Jamaica Observer yesterday, the operation will cost $750,000.
NoFace Unknown hails from the Flankers community of St James. He said he always wanted a career in music but his dreams were placed on hold after the injury.
“After much encouragement from family and friends, I put my physical appearance behind me and last year I released my debut single called Tank Up,” he said.
“A lot of people want to see Noface Unknown’s face but the surgery is not complete as yet so that will happen in time. 2017 looks great, I am really pleased with the success of Tank Up,” he added.
His other singles include I Am Chosen and Still a Dweet.
