‘Thrills’ for Sean Paul and Sia
Sean Paul and Sia’s chart-topping single Cheap Thrills is nominated for three awards in the 2017 iHeartradio Music Awards.
The song is nominated in the category Song of the Year and will compete with Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling; Closer by the Chainsmokers, featuring Halsey; One Dance by Drake, featuring Wizkid and Kyla; and Stressed Out by Twenty-One Pilots.
It is also in the category Best Lyrics, alongside Lukas Graham’s 7 Years; Came Here to Forget by Blake Shelton; Love Yourself by Justin Bieber; Scars to Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara; Send My Love (to Your New Lover) by Adele; Too Good by Drake, featuring Rihanna; and Cole Swindell’s You Should be Here.
In the category Best Collaboration, Cheap Thrills is up against Closer by the Chainsmokers, featuring Halsey; Work by Rihanna, featuring Drake; Don’t Let Me Down by the Chainsmokers, featuring Daya; and This is What You Can For by Calvin Harris, featuring Rihanna.
Cheap Thrills is featured on Sia’s seventh studio album, This Is Acting. The song has been nominated in the category Best Pop Duo/Group Performance in the 59th Grammy Awards.
Last summer, it became the first number one song in the United States for Sia when it topped the Billboard Hot 100. It was the first number one in 10 years for Sean Paul.
The song reached number two in the UK and topped charts in France, Germany, Canada, Italy and Australia.
Cheap Thrills has sold 1.5 million copies in the US, 1.2 million in the UK, 600,000 in Germany and 560,000 in Canada.
Drake is the top nominee in the iHeartradio Music Awards with 12. The Chainsmokers picked up 11. Other artistes with multiple nominations include Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Beyoncé.
The awards are intended to celebrate the music heard across iHeartMedia radio stations over the past year. The awards will be handed out at the Forum in Inglewood, California, on March 5, and will air on TNT and TBS.
