ONLINE POLL RESULTS: Respondents give retired commish low rating
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Just over 42 per cent of respondents to the recent OBSERVER ONLINE poll on how well they think retired Commissioner of Police Dr Carl Williams did while on the job, gave him the lowest rating possible.
Respondents were asked to rate Williams as commissioner of police on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the highest.
Of the 2,725 votes received, 42.35 per cent gave him a one while 7.6 per cent gave him the highest rating of five.
He received 20.92 per cent of the votes as a two rating, while 21.36 per cent of the respondents gave him a three, and 7.78 per cent gave him a four.
Dr Williams stepped down as police commissioner last week, after just over two years serving in the position which is arguably one of the most difficult jobs in Jamaica.
With over three decades of service in the century-old organisation, Williams served as the 28th commissioner after his predecessor, Owen Ellington, left the force on early retirement.
Novelette Grant is now acting as commissioner of police for 90 days until someone is found to fill the post.
