Police arrest woman found with cocaine hidden in luggage
GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) — Investigations are continuing following a drug bust at the Eugene F Correia International Airport in which cocaine was found in the suitcase of a Guyanese woman as she prepared to board a flight to Antigua and Barbuda.
The police report that early Wednesday Clarabel Thompson, 24, was found with close to 10 pounds of cocaine in her luggage.
The drug was found as she was preparing to board a LIAT flight.
The woman, who became the first drug mule of the year, was arrested and could be charged this week.
Last year the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit and Police Narcotics executed several drug busts and placed several individuals before the courts.There were also several convictions.
