Mutabaruka for Bobfest
DUB poet and social commentator Mutabaruka will take centrestage at An Evening with Mutabaruka scheduled for the Southwest Community Arts Center on New Hope Road in Atlanta on February 2.
The event is part of the annual reggae legends tribute dubbed Bobfest, which runs from February 2-10.
“An Evening with Mutabaruka is really a performance of poetry reading, but as you know, I would reason with the audience during my performance,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
Sharing the stage with him on Bobfest are poet Sunni Patterson, who will be the evening’s host; saxophonist Bilal Sunni Ali; and percussionist Baba Sola. The other main attractions during the music and visual arts festival include the Trench Town Rock International Dance Night and the screening of the film Sankofa.
