Elaine Thomson to make season debut at Queens/Grace Jackson Invitational Meet
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson will make her seasonal debut at the Queens/Grace Jackson Invitational Meet at the National Stadium on Saturday.
Thompson, 24, also opened her season last year at this very meet, won the 60m in 7.17 seconds (1.6 mps). She is expected to run the 60m once again.
That laid the platform for her outstanding season culmination with her capturing gold in the 100m and 200m at the Rio Olympics and became the first woman to achieve that feat in 28 years.
Thompson, the joint 100m national record holder of 10.70 along with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, has a personal best of 7.04 seconds over the 60m.
