HEADLEY ‘Maas Sony’ CAINE – A jack of all trades, always willing to lend a helping hand

The service of thanksgiving for the life of Headley Caine which was held on Wednesday January 18 at the Full Truth Church of God at Santa Hill, Spalding in Clarendon was well attended by family, friends and well-wishers.

The 88-year-old affectionately call “Maas Sony” passed away on January 4, 2017, 20 days before his 89th birthday.

The deceased was a member of the Village Pentecostal Church of God in Manchester, up to the time of his death, where he worshipped for several years with his pre-deceased wife Gwendolyn.

Many of those paying tribute to Maas Sony’s remembered his infectious smile, which according to them symbolised, humility, peace, and love for those who he came in contact with. He was described as a jack of all trades; one who was willing to give a helping hand to those in need.

The service was filled with lots of laughter as those who paid tribute made sure to share some of their fond memories of Caine. Some of the speakers included his pastor and moderator, Rev Martin Taylor and Bishop Arthur Brown. Maas Sony’s sons Dalbert and Joseph Caine read the eulogy.

Also in attendance were many senior ranking officers from the Jamaica Fire Brigade and the Jamaica Constabulary Force who came in support of Dalbert and Joseph.

There was thunderous applause in the congregation when it was announced that all of Maas Sony’s 10 children would be donating a scholarship annually to a GSAT student from Mount Olivet Primary School in memory of their father. This gesture was quite fitting as the family home is a stone’s throw away from the school.

Maas Sony was also remembered as a great father, grandfather and church member who served well.

Caine leaves his 10 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, church members, other relatives and friends.
