Clovis cartoon irresponsible
Dear Editor,
The People’s National Party views with disgust and consternation Clovis’ cartoon in yesterday’s edition which implies that members of the party are shielding and protecting criminals or turning a blind eye to criminality, not reporting such information to the relevant authorities, and corruptly undermining the efforts of the minister of national security in western Jamaica.
The cartoon is utterly scurrilous and defamatory. We view the cartoon as dangerously irresponsible, and call on the
Jamaica Observer to publicly apologise to the party for the damage it has done to its reputation.
Given the extremely high levels of criminality in western Jamaica, we find it disappointing and unfortunate that the
Observer would seek to politicise such an important national issue.
