ST MARY, Jamaica — The first herbs and music festival titled ‘Rockabessa Herbs and Music Festival’ is to be held in the Rio Nuevo Village and Great House in St Mary.

The two-day festival, which begins on Saturday, February 18 will infuse local culture with an international appeal to culminate in a unique festival experience, according to the event organisers.

Activities include symposiums on cannabis entrepreneurship, medicinal uses and retail, cannabis licensing and cultivation in addition to a reggae renaissance.  

The organisers said there is a focus placed on educating attendees on the vast economic and health benefits of cannabis and as a result patrons will be exposed to a wide array of cannabis-based products through a ‘Herb Village’.

Cannabis products and information on the industry in Jamaica will be provided at the various display booths while attendants will be allowed to camp on the grounds of the festival.

“In keeping with our rich cultural background a Rastafarian Village that includes art and craft, wellness, spa and drumming will be an exciting feature on both days of the festival.  In addition, a Taino African Museum Tour, will be open to all patrons daily.

“This festival is a celebration of our natural resources and a showcase of the enormous depth of talent, skill and creativity Jamaica possesses.  We have the ability to make Jamaica the premier destination for industry professionals and fans of reggae music and herb as we already have the foundation,” said festival organiser Curvin Merchan
