Baca Star, Duanvale, Harmony remain perfect
FALMOUTH, Trelawny — Three teams Baca Star United, Duanvale FC and Harmony FC extended their perfect starts in the Trelawny Football Association/Monymusk Plantation Rum Major League to three games with contrasting wins on Saturday.
Hoshanna Mendez scored a hat-trick and Nicholas Palmer got a late brace to lead Baca Star United to a big, 6-1 drubbing of Daniel Town at Elleston Wakeland Centre in Falmouth; Duanvale FC edged Granville FC 1-0; while Harmony FC handed Salt Marsh United their first loss of the season, winning 2-0 in their Zone One game at Davis Pen.
Baca Star United’s big win took them to the top of Zone Two on goal difference, both on nine points, while Harmony FC joined Coopers Pen on nine in Zone One.
Mendez, who came into the game with two goals, scored in the ninth, 54th and 61st minutes; Palmer got his brace in the 74th and 83rd minutes, while Charles Grant scored the other in the 37th minute.
Ronaldo Dunn scored for Daniel Town in the 47th minute, making the score 2-1 at the time and was the first goal conceded by Baca Star United this season.
Andre Coleman scored in the 60th minute for Duanvale FC against Granville FC at Bounty Hall, to keep pace with Baca Star United.
At Davis Pen, Everette Mullings scored in the 36th minute and Troy Smith added another in the 58th minute for Harmony FC in their 2-0 victory over Salt Marsh United, who stayed in third place but are now five points off the lead.
