JA welcomes eight new foreign diplomats
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Foreign Affairs Minister Kamina Johnson Smith today accepted copy letters of credence from seven ambassador-designates and one high commissioner-designate at the ministry’s headquarters in New Kingston.
The presentations, which form part of the ministry’s Diplomatic Week activities, provide accreditation for the diplomats as non-resident ambassadors and high commissioner to Jamaica.
A release from the ministry said Johnson Smith, in welcoming the designates, used the opportunity to congratulate them on their accreditation to Jamaica, and to extend the hope that the week of activities would create new ties and strengthen the links between Jamaica and their respective countries.
The ambassador-designates represent the countries of Finland, Ireland, Morocco, The Netherlands, Sudan, Sweden and Switzerland while the High Commissioner represents Bangladesh.
They are: Elizabeth Eklund, Ambassador of Sweden, Jim Kelly, Ambassador of Ireland, Dr Abderrahim Kadmiri, Ambassador of Morocco, Mizanur Rahman, High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Omer Dahab Fadl Mohamed, Ambassador of Sudan, Alexandra Patricia Valkenburg Roelofs, Ambassador of The Netherlands, Jukka Pietikainen, Ambassador of Finland and Marcel Stutz, Ambassador of Switzerland.
