Motorcyclist killed in St James crash

ST JAMES, Jamaica — A 47-year-old motorcyclist has succumbed to injuries he received when he crashed at the intersection of Howard Cooke Boulevard and Alice Eldemire Drive in St James on Saturday.

He is Michael Bloomfield, a heavy equipment operator of Bogue Hill in the parish.

Reports from the Freeport police are that Bloomfield, who was heading in a southerly direction on Howard Cooke Boulevard, lost control of his motorcycle while turning onto Alice Eldemire Drive, and crashed into a median and signpost.

He sustained multiple injuries and was taken to hospital where he died while being treated. The incident occurred about 1:30 pm.
