Weather disrupts NWC facilities in St Ann, St Mary, Portland & St Catherine
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The National Water Commission (NWC) says that the inclement weather affecting Jamaica is seriously impacting several of its systems across the island posing operational challenges inclusive of single phase electricity faults and turbidity issues.
This has resulted in the shutdown of facilities in the parishes of St Ann, St. Mary and St Catherine, the NWC has reported.
Areas affected include:-
St Ann – The Shaw Park and White River facilities which serve the areas of Exchange, Eltham, Middle Street, Prosper Heights, Cornpiece Street, Parry Town and Lime Bottom.
St Mary – Agualta Vale facilities serving areas of Highgate, Richmond, Esher, Lewis Store, Frazerwood, Clonmwell, Belfield, Stockholm Park Housing Scheme, Islington, Harewood Hall, Albany, Zion Hill and Robins Bay.
Portland – The Charles Town serving areas of Charles Town, Buff Bay, Kildare, Woodstock H/S, Palm Valley and White River.
St Catherine – The Wakefield Well and Guy’s Hill treatment plant serving Wakefield Main Road, Buxton Town, Savannah, Burton District and sections of Linstead as well as Race Course, Jeffery Town, Decoy, Ragsville, Moreland, Redwood, Middlesex, Guys Hill, Windsor Castle, Barnett/Benbow and Bonnett.
Additionally, the company is advising that in St Mary, the Castleton Relift station, which provides water supply to Castleton and Golden Valley is being affected by turbidity caused by the weather pattern.
