Patrons flood Mas Camp
A SEA of soca fans flooded Mas Camp in St Andrew for the opening night of Bacchanal Fridays last Friday evening.
They were throughly entertained by the headliners Miami’s Dream Team of DJ Sinistar and DJ Steelie Back as well as local disc jock DJ Richie RAS.
“This is our first time in Jamaica. We literally got off a plane from Trini Carnival and came here,” said Steelie Back, whose given name is Sheldon Walcott.
Their set included the latest soca music as well as a healthy dose of reggae music. Welcome to Jamrock by Junior Gong;Driver and Wanna Be Loved (Buju Banton); If Jah Is Standing By My Side (Tony Rebel); and Dry Cry and Me A Try (Sizzla) all made the cut and were well received by the soca-hungry crowd.
Michael Ammar Jr, a director of Bacchanal Jamaica — event organisers, was pleased with the turnout.
“We got a fantastic crowd… This is going to be the best carnival yet,” he said.
Bacchanal Fridays continues at Mas Camp on Fridays for the next five weeks.
