Accused in murder of Burger King worker gets bail
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The taxi operator charged with the murder of Burger King employee Nile Brown, 21, was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $550,000 when he appeared in the St Thomas Parish Court.
The accused, Shamar Omeally, 23, of Ten Miles, Bull Bay in St Andrew, was granted bail by Parish Judge Luciana Jackson and told to return to court on May 12.
Bail was offered on conditions that he surrender his travel documents and a stop order placed on him. He is report to the Bull Bay Police Station daily and abide by a curfew order.
Omeally was arrested and charged after Brown’s decomposing body was found in a plastic drum in Ramble District, St Thomas on February 5, days after she was reported missing.
According to police reports, Brown, who was from Race Course Lane, Denham Town in Kingston, was sexually assaulted and strangled.
