Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall Season 10’s Castle Blue contestant D’Element thrilled the massive crowd inside D’Entrance on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew, last Saturday.

He closed the sixth live show of season 10 in style and is looking forward to the rest of the season with hopes of achieving his big break as a mainstream artiste.

“People know good music and will recognise good artistes, so at the end of the day it is up to me to come out and show the people what I can do. Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall is a stepping stone in my career with the bigger goal being to make it as a recognised, established recording artiste,” said D’Element.

Born Melvin McGibbon, the 23-year-old has been pursuing a career in music since 2012 after leaving St Mary Technical High.

D’Element said it was not easy arriving at his current destination as he had tried previously to get on the show. That however did not deter him from music as he used it as motivation to hone his craft and return stronger.

“I tried to get on the show in 2012 and I never made it past the auditions. A lot of people would use that as a sign that they aren’t good enough, but it motivated me even more. I went home, I watched the show to see what I needed to work on, did my homework, bettered my craft and I am here now for the Magnum King of Dancehall crown,” he said.

Vanzo was also a stand-out performer on the night along with Compass and Caano, who eliminated Movack in the first Castle Blue face-off. Shanara also came out on top as she won her lyrical clash with Shyne Tyme to remain on the show, while Suspense and Ali Ferrari were dominant on the female side. Miss Kitty had her wild-card contestant, Memzay, joining the show after winning his face-off with Mad Dawg.

Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall Season 10 continues on Saturday, March 25 with live show seven. The season 10 Magnum King and Queen will each receive $1,500,000.
