#Champs2017: Excelsior’s Foreman cops gold, sets new high jump record
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Shantae Foreman of Excelsior High School a short while ago achieved the fourth record on the girls’ side of action and the fifth of the 107th staging of the ISSA/ GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships in the Class Three high jump final at the National Stadium.
Foreman cleared the bar at 1.79 metres on her second attempt, bettering the
previous height of 1.78m set by Hydel’s Shiann Salmon in 2014. She also bettered her previous personal best of 1.75m in the process.
The overwhelming favourite duly obliged in leading from the front and tried for 1.81m, but failed in all three attempts.
She won ahead of Daniella Anglin of Herbert Morrison and Daniel Hinds
also of Excelsior, both clearing 1.70m.
