#Champs2017: St Jago, Edwin Allen clock 200m records
KINGSTON, Jamaica — St Jago’s Brianna Lyston and Kevona Davis of Edwin Allen, both clocked records on their way to victory in the girls’ Class Four and Three 200m finals at the 107th staging of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships currently under way at the National Stadium.
The outstanding Lyston, who established the record of a flat 24.00 seconds in the preliminary round, returned to lower the time to 23.72 seconds in emphatic fashion in a negative 0.6 metres per second wind speed.
She won ahead of Oneika McAnuff (24.60s) of Hydel and Shaquena Vassell (24.74s) of Mount Alvernia.
Davis followed shortly after clocking 23.08 seconds in a positive 0.9 metres per second wind speed to better Anneisha McLaughlin-Whilby’s longstanding record of 23.11 seconds set back in 2001. She won ahead of Joanne Reid (22.39s) of St Jago and Gabrielle Matthews (23.47s) of Hydel.
