#CariftaGames: Jamaica strikes gold in three of four 400m events
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica also dominated the 400 metres winning three of the four events at the 46th staging of the FLOW Carifta Games held in Curacoa.
In the girl’s Under-18 400m, Kimara Francis was second in 54.24 seconds while her teammate Shanique Walker was fourth with 54.82. The race was won by Megan Moss of the Bahamas in 53.69 with her teammate Doneisha Anderson third with 54.33 seconds.
But Jamaica responded well as Antonio Watson grabbed gold in the boy’s Under-18 winning in 47.86 seconds and pulled his teammate Ramone Lindo into second with 47.99 seconds. Third went to Colby Jennings of Turks and Caicos in 48.26.
Jamaica’s captain Junelle Bromfield secured her first gold of the Games, winning the Under-20 400m in 53.82 seconds with hear teammate Kimorla Mushette edged out for second and finished third in 55.62. Tiana Bowen of Barbados was second, also in 55.62 seconds.
Then male captain, Christopher Taylor showed that he is in very good form easily dispatching the field and stopped the clock at a very good 45.97. Just outside the 48.85 record set in 2015 by Akeem Bloomfield. Jamaica’s other runner, Dashwan Morris was fourth 47.60.
