GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC) – The police are investigating an incident in which Trinidadian soca artiste Rodney “Benjai” Le Blanc was injured after being hit in the face with a bottle while at a popular restaurant here early Sunday.

The police report that Benjai who had performed there earlier, was attacked by a patron outside the Palm Court restaurant and bar.

The incident took place while Benjai was outside the establishment talking with a group of fans when the driver of a car was reversing. One person in the group reportedly knocked on the trunk of the car to alert the driver that he was reversing into them.

The driver, known as “Imran”, reportedly jumped out of the vehicle and confronted Benjai about someone knocking on his car. As Benjai spoke to the driver another man got out of the car with a bottle in his hand and hit the artiste across his face.

Benjai reportedly fell to the ground and was rushed to hospital where he received over 20 stitches.
