Trinidadian soca artiste 5Star Akil is celebrating his fifth anniversary in the music business with the release of his mixtape Hero!.

According to the entertainer, the 14-track compilation also celebrates him surviving an attack six years ago during which he was shot multiple times.

“2017 marks five years of me doing music, and what better way to celebrate this milestone by giving back and saying ‘thank you’ to everyone who helped me reached this far in soca music and achieved all that I have today,” he said.

5Star Akil performs today at Xodus Road March, which will make its way throughout the streets of the Corporate Area.

He plans to use Hero! to build his 5Star Akil brand regionally.

It contains the title song as well as his breakthrough hit, Partier, To Meh Heart and Noise, along with recent songs like Go Go Dancer.

5Star Akil, whose given name is Akil Borneo, was largely influenced by his parents. His mother sang in a choir and his father was a steel pan musician.
