UPDATE: Death of Mandeville Tax Office worker believed to be accidental — reports
MANCHESTER, Jamaica – Unconfirmed reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE are that the death of the female worker from the Mandeville Tax Office this morning was accidental.
However efforts to get official confirmation from the police have so far failed.A source said the woman, whose name is being withheld, was getting ready to go to work along with her common-law husband when the incident happened.According to the report, the woman picked up her partner’s licensed firearm to give it to him and accidentally triggered the weapon. A lone bullet hit her under the armpit. She was pronounced dead at hospital.Her common-law husband is reportedly being interviewed by the police.Meanwhile, The Tax Administration of Jamaica (TAJ) is advising that the office is closed for business today to facilitate grief counselling for staff at the location following the woman’s death.The TAJ is advising taxpayers that they may conduct their usual transactions at the Christiana, Santa Cruz or May Pen tax offices, and that they will be advised through the media of the resumption of services at the location.Garfield Myers
