ONLINE READERS’ COMMENTS – We should have done better with Frankie Paul
The Editor,
I am sadden at the passing of one of Jamaica’s Reggae icon Frankie Paul.
I am even more sadden by how he was treated by Jamaicans and the entire musical fraternity at large, for the sister of such a man to have had to publicly appeal for assistance to help him with his medical bills, spoke volumes to the farce Jamaicans call health care, and the lack of compassion we have towards each other.
I am left to wonder where were all these persons who now that Frankie has died, have all kinds of good things to say, where were they when he needed help ?
It always amazes me that when people are alive you hear nothing, the minute they die, bells begin to chime, how sad is that?
The Jamaican musical fraternity, the entertainment Ministry should all be ashamed of themselves, a man like Frankie Paul should have been treated like royalty, not left to die a pauper who could not pay his medical bills.
It is a shame the way we treat those who have helped to place Jamaica on the map, and yet we are so hypocritical that should such persons take their citizenship to other countries where they would be treated much better, we cry traitors.
I hope Frankie Paul is now at peace,
Michelle Bradshaw
