Stunning upset – Barbados beat Sunshine Girls 43-41 to even netball series
KINGSTON, Jamaica – In what can only be described as a stunning upset, Barbados last night defeated Jamaica 43-41 at the National Arena in St Andrew to draw the three-match series 1-1. This was the first time since 1984 that Barbados were defeating Jamaica at the senior level.
Jamaica and Barbados drew their opening encounter 44-44, then Jamaica won the second match 40-34.Jamaica actually led after the first quarter 11-8 in the match last night. The dominance of the Jamaicans continued in the second quarter, as they emerged with 21-18 lead.The third quarter saw the Bajan pulling closer but the Sunshine Girls were still able to maintain a 32-31.It then went wrong for the Jamaicans in the final 15 minutes as Barbados rallied to take the match with a final score of 43-41.SCORERS:Barbados
