Jamaican woman allegedly raped by taxi driver in Trinidad
A Jamaican woman was allegedly raped and left on the roadside Sunday by a taxi driver in Point Fortin, Trinidad, according to a report by the Trinidad Express newspaper.
According to the newspaper, the rapist took the woman to an isolated area and assaulted her, then left her at the roadside and sped off. The incident, the newspaper report said, occurred about 1:30 pm.
The 26-year-old victim told police she boarded a black vehicle near Sieunarine’s Bar at Guapo/Cap de Ville Road, and that the driver instead of taking her to Fanny Village, drove towards Erin.
She reported that the driver, who wore a purple shirt and a pair of black pants, then sexually assaulted her and left her in the bushes.
The victim, the Express said, sought help from residents who contacted the Point Fortin police, who took her to the Point Fortin Area Hospital for treatment.
