Franklyn and Darnet Brown have been friends for the past 22 years, but it wasn’t until six years ago that they decided to tie the knot.

Six years later the Westmoreland-based couple renewed nuptial vows during the staging of Western Wedding Expo held at the West Jamaica Seventh-day Adventist Conference Centre in Mount Salem, St James, on Sunday.

The couple told the Jamaica Observer West that despite marriage life being wonderful, there are nonetheless differences.

“You have ups and downs sometimes, but everybody knows that. Marriage life is nice. I am encouraging anybody to do that,” encouraged Darnet.

The proud husband chipped in, “So far, so good to me, eno. Marriage life seems alright to me. But, as she said, there is ups and down in it. You just have to put your mind to it and know say if you can live up to it, live up to it. But there are times when there are demands or whatever… that some couple may try to leave out. They don’t follow the rule and principle what you set. It is like you have to try to live up and hold up in doing so.”

Meanwhile, his wife’s recommendation to other couples is to address issues that may arise daily before going to sleep.

“Settle it before you go to sleep. You don’t go to bed with it,” advised Darnet.

Her husband concurred, adding that couples should live up to their commitment.

“Well, to be honest, more time me myself get irritable, but sometimes you have to go back … in a life and say alright, because a lot of time you can say alright, my feel like end the relationship. But you know you still did it (commitment) already. So you just have to say continue with it,” he argued.

During the Western Wedding Expo the couple renewed their vows and fed each other with a Jamaican tradition fruitcake made by Angela Peters Campbell of Angela Catering and Pastry.
