Fire at JPS substation causes electricity outage in St Ann
ST ANN, Jamaica — The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPSCo) is reporting that customers in sections of St Ann should now have power restored after a fire at the Cardiff Hall substation in Runaway Bay disrupted service last night.
The affected areas were: Runaway Bay, Discovery Bay, Salem, Queens Highway, James Hill, Bohemia, Cave Valley, Nine Miles, Watt Town, Aenon and surrounding areas.
In a release today, JPSCo said that it was assessing the damage and investigating the cause of the fire.
However, the company said crews were able to restore ahead of the target time of midday today.
JPSCo also said it will have to continue carrying out repairs, which may at some point result in disruption of service to customers, but the company will make every effort to minimise its impact.
