Portmore’s V Club reopens tonight
STEVE Billings, principal of Sun City Radio, is heading another entertainment entity in the Sunshine City of Portmore, St Catherine.
Today he and managing partner Richard Yang, operator of V Bar, will open the doors to the new-and-improved V Club in Independence City.
The club, which first began operation in 2013, had closed its doors approximately two years ago.
According to Billings, the rebirth of V Club will make Portmore the premiere party nightlife destination for people aged 18 and over.
“With varied themed nights set, the V Club will amplify the entertainment experience which will be provided by some of the hottest disc jocks in and around Portmore as well as international disc jocks. An element of surprise also exists with exclusive performances from top acts. The club will be opened three nights a week, offering three different experiences,” Billings told Splash yesterday.
According to the V Club’s co-operator, there’ll be Lovers Thursdays where only love songs will be played. This will be followed by After Work Jam and Stress Free Fridays. The party week will culminate with Superstar Saturdays.
Billings said he saw the need to venture into this type of entertainment arena because of the lack of nightclubs in Portmore.
“There is no actual nightclub in operation in Portmore such as the calibre of V Club. Portmore is fast becoming a melting pot for music, fashion and food. So why not a club experience to help showcase the common denominator of this Mecca, which is nightlife?” he said.
Back in the day, Portmore was the hotspot for hip clubs, including Cactus and Famous. The latter is still in operation.
Billings said he and his team are ensuring that V Club will remain open and relevant.
“We are spreading the word to all areas in proximity to Portmore to come out for the great club experience. We just want everyone to party in fine style,” he said.
