Sprinter Jason Livermore facing doping claims
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaican sprinter Jason Livermore has been brought before the Independent Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel for a prohibited substance in his body.
Livermore, whose hearing has been set for September 11, is said to have violated Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCO) Article 2.1 of anti-doping rules, which refers to “Presence of a Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers in an Athlete’s Sample”.
Livermore, 29, of Akan Track Club, is a bronze medalist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the 200m and a part of the gold medal winning 4x100m relay. He was also a member of Jamaica’s gold medal winning 4x200m team at the IAAF World Relays in 2015.
The former Calabar High School athlete has personal bests of 10.03 seconds and 20.13 sec for the 100m and 200m respectively. He represented Jamaica at the 2013 Moscow World Championship in the 200m.
