Long regarded as one of the best road trip routes, the journey from Montego Bay to Negril, with miles of open road and gorgeous sea views plus a mix of rustic food stops and attractions such as CHUKKA Sandy Bay and Dolphin Cove, is truly an experience.

The town of Hopewell has its fair share of these spots and a new eatery has now been added to the culinary landscape. Spiritz of Hanover (SOH) officially opened its doors last month and its principals Dr Karren Dunkley and Jeffrey Smith are already mapping a course for greater development.

Part of its ethos is the creation of a Reggae Village on the beautiful Old Steamer beach, bringing together all the stakeholders within the community to grow the local economy and expose visitors to performing arts, craft, music and of course, food.

Spiritz of Hanover features a restaurant, sports bar and gaming lounge, offering a comfortable, contemporary, unintrusive dining and leisure experience for locals and visitors alike.

“Our hope is that people will come out and enjoy a fabulous and fun-filled atmosphere with their families, friends and loved ones and enjoy our delicious and authentic Jamaican food made from local produce. Another main attraction is the live music we will feature monthly,” Smith explained.

“In addition to the gaming lounge we have special themed nights. On Sunday, July 23, we kick off our Vintage Reggae Night with Ken Boothe. There’ll be daily specials on food and exciting cocktail mixes and premium wines,” Smith added further.

Dunkley and Smith explained that Hanover became their choice locale after falling in love with the beauty of Hopewell, and the warmth of the people. The town’s strategic location — a mere 10 minutes from Montego Bay — was, we reckon, a decided plus!

“Our goal is to create a space for locals and visitors to enjoy tasty, scrumptious local fare, be entertained, experience the warmth of Hanover and, just like our tagline says, Eat! Drink! Play!” Smith concluded.
