DENVER, Colorado – Jamaica held Mexico to a 0-0 result in their top-of-the-table Group C clash here inside Sports Authority Field last night.

The regional kingpins had the better of play but the Jamaican proved resolute in defence even while creating counter attacks, which were let down by inefficient passing in the middle to the final third.

The result left Theodore Whitmore’s Reggae Boyz and Mexico on four points, after two games, one point ahead of El Salvador, who defeated Curacao 2-0 in the day’s opening game.

It was the second time Whitmore’s national senior team was getting a 0-0 result against the Mexicans at high altitude, having done so in a World Cup qualifier inside the Azteca Stadium in February 2012.

Gerson Mayen in the 21st minute and Rodolfo Zelaya, three minutes later, were the scorers for El Salvador.

The Boyz will depart Denver today for San Antonio, where they oppose El Salvador on Sunday.

The winners and runners-up from each of the three groups, plus the two best third-placed teams advance to the quarter-finals.
