Cabinet approves contracts for Hellshire housing development
KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS) – Cabinet has approved two contracts totalling $1.34 billion for Surrey Paving and Aggregate Company Limited, and West Indies Home Contractors Limited (WIHCON) to undertake work on the Hellshire housing development in St Catherine.
Speaking at Wednesday’s post-Cabinet media briefing at Jamaica House, Education, Youth and Information Minister, Ruel Reid, said Surrey Paving will undertake civil infrastructure works on Hellshire phase two at a cost of $202,684,450.
Additionally, he said a contract valued at $1.14 billion has been awarded to WIHCON for housing and infrastructure works on phase three.,p> Meanwhile, Senator Reid advised that a contract in the sum of $1.5 billion has been awarded to M&M Jamaica Limited to undertake the Lathbury Barracks redevelopment project at Jamaica Defence Force headquarters, Up Park Camp, Kingston.
The project aims to construct new integrated accommodation, office and storage facilities.
M&M Limited has also been contracted to undertake civil infrastructure works on phases one and two of the Villages of Colbeck Castle housing development in St. Catherine at cost of $1.46 billion. A total of 595 serviced will be developed under both phases.
