Video: Your Very Own Beauty Journal

Pencil it in your diaries, ladies: Beauty Journal Spacare is the place for all of your spa needs. The multi-faceted spa opened by Kadeem Baker offers brow care, massages, scrubs, facials, mani-pedis and even teeth whitening. From brow microblading to rum butter pedicures, this is a journal we might actually keep!

Beauty Journal’s most popular services are the array of brow and lash treatments. “It’s the era of the brow,” comments Baker. Luckily, Beauty Journal has you covered with services such as microblading. Microblading is the depositing of pigment into the skin to increase the appearance of brows. It is recommended for those who want to reconstruct, define, cover gaps or fill in over-plucked brows. The results last between 12 to 18 months and require little maintenance. The process is relatively painless as a topical numbing cream is applied to the area to minimise discomfort. Complete healing takes 25 – 30 days although Baker promises that there is no down time. “Your new set of brows will be ready for a selfie immediately after the process,” she shares with Under the Dryer. Have your snapchat at the ready, ladies!

Microblading, shading or tinting?

Yikes! With so many options, how’s a girl to choose? Microblading is inserting pigment into the skin to mimic the appearance of individual hairs, while shading achieves a softer and more blended look.Very often microblading and shading are done together, as they complement each other for maximum impact.

Tinting is the dying of the eyebrows to make them appear darker, using a temporary vegetable-base dye with castor oil to help thicken natural brows. Tints will last an average of 10 days. Don’t forget to only use a gentle cleanser and avoid using any AHAs, (alpha hydroxy acids) retinols, or brightening agents near brows to prolong the colour.

Does size really matter? It certainly does for your lashes! Fusion lashes are for those looking to get a little extra length. The process attaches individual lashes to existing eyelashes. Results last up to six weeks, with a touch-up recommended every three to four weeks. Prior to your appointment no mascara or eyelash glue should be worn.

Pillow Talk

Time for some pillow talk. For the ultimate relaxation experience, Baker recommends the signature Bamboo Massage, a deep-tissue massage using a piece of natural bamboo to roll out even the most fatigued muscles. Follow up with one of Beauty Journal’s coffee, lemongrass or coconut sugar scrubs. They’re made in-house for ultimate freshness. The coffee is recommended for tightening pores and targeting cellulite. The lemongrass is anti-inflammatory and soothing. We’re coco-nuts for their coconut sugar scrub with fresh shredded coconut for natural exfoliation.

LED facials

Have the aliens landed? Nope, just an LED facial mask. The Star Wars-esque mask is placed on the client’s face for 60 minutes, emitting blue, red or purple light to improve skin texture and target acne. The blue light is said to kill bacteria while the red improves collagen production. As we age our skin naturally produces less of the protein collagen, so this is a great way to replace it. Beam us up!

Say cheese!

Smile for the camera! Or for any reason, really, once you’ve had a teeth-whitening procedure at Beauty Journal. The process uses “Beaming White,” a premium product for whitening teeth. And the best part? It only takes 20 minutes! Customer Collette Smith shared with UTD: “It’s quick but it really works!”

Fit for a princess

Start them from young! Do you have a little one with great GSAT results or perhaps a birthday? Beauty Journal has a new package to pamper the little princess in your life. The kiddie package includes a mani-pedi, facial and massage, along with a cake (candles included!) and a glass of non-alcoholic wine. It even comes with a special robe and a tiara. Talk about cuteness overload!
