Two Manchester men plead guilty to ganja charges
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Two men were sentenced after pleading guilty to breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act when they appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court on Monday, July 31.
They are: 46-year-old Gary Edwards and 39-year-old Evol Taylor both of Manchester.
Edwards was fined $15,000 or six months imprisonment and sentenced to nine months imprisonment for possession of 602 pounds of ganja. On the charge of dealing in ganja, he was fined $1 million or six months imprisonment.
Taylor was fined $15,000 or six months imprisonment and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for possession of 483 pounds of ganja. On the charge of dealing in ganja, he was fined $1 million or six months imprisonment.
Sentences are to run concurrently if the fines are not paid.
Both men were arrested after the quantities of ganja were found during a police operation at two beaches in Hellshire, St Catherine on Thursday, May 04.
