#London2017: Forte clocks first sub 10 of World Champs
LONDON, United Kingdom — Jamaica’s Julian Forte won the third heat in the men’s 100m first round in the first sub 10 clocking of the World Championships with a personal best of 9.99 seconds.
Britain’s Reece Prescod also got a personal best of 10.03s to take the third automatic qualifying place behind the Cote d’Ivoire’s Ben Youssef Meite.
There was also the first disqualification of the Championships in heat 4 when Mosita Lehata of Lesotho was eliminated for a false start.
The restart saw China’s Bingtian Su winning in a season’s best of 10.03s ahead of Britain’s Chijindu Ujah, who clocked 10.07s, with Christopher Belcher of the United States also went through with 10.13s.
