PNP condemns Spain terror attack, extends friendship to Sierra Leone flood victims
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The People’s National Party (PNP) says it stands firmly with the people of Sierra Leone and Spain as they experience “horrendous tragedies” at this time.
Sierra Leone, in recent times battled an outbreak of the Ebola virus and is now recovering from major landslides.
Reports out of Sierra Leone confirm that 270 corpses have been recovered and prepared for burial, while another 400 bodies have been found. The Red Cross has reported that some 600 persons are still missing.
Meanwhile, a van terror attack in Spain’s city of Barcelona left 13 dead.
According to a release from the PNP today, it is extending hands of friendship and solidarity to our brothers and sisters in Sierra Leone as they put their lives back together.
The PNP also says it condemns the terror attack in Barcelona, noting that such incidents anywhere in the world are an attack on humanity all over the world and must be countered in the strongest way.
“We stand with the people of Spain as they confront the hands of evil, which has disrupted their peaceful way of life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Barcelona in these trying times. Your resilience will persevere and defeat terror,” the PNP said.
Spokesman on Foreign Affairs, Morais Guy said, “It is with deep sadness that we learn of these developments and offer our support to those affected.”
