Tourism director Pennicook demits office today
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Tourism Director Paul Pennicook today demitted office following the end of his three-year term.
Word emerged last month that the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) was seeking a replacement for Pennicook.
According to a release from the JTB this afternoon, the search is still ongoing for a successor. In the meantime Deputy Director of Tourism, Donnie Dawson, will serve as acting tourism director.
Pennicook, who returned to the JTB in July 2014, was given the mandate to lead and oversee the promotion of Jamaica’s tourist industry to ensure optimum visitor arrivals.
During his tenure Pennicook gave much attention to modernising the operations of the Board and to deepening partnerships with industry players, the JTB said.
He previously served the JTB in a similar role between 2003 and 2006.
