After wowing large audiences in Ocho Rios for the past 12 days, the Suarez Brothers Circus will stage its final performances in that resort town today before moving to Jamaica’s capital city Kingston, where it will open on Friday, August 25.

“Jamaicans can expect great family entertainment, as this is a family show,” Ivan Suarez emphasised last Friday. His father, Raul, agreed, noting that the team of acrobats, trapeze artists, clowns, jugglers, magicians, and extreme cyclists on show will please audiences.

Friday’s opening night in Kingston will be special, as Prime Minister Andrew Holness and his family are expected to attend.

As a gift to Jamaicans wishing to attend the opening night, Ivan and Raul Suarez are giving away 500 tickets to Jamaica Observer readers who participate in a ‘Colour the clown’ contest, starting this Tuesday in the Observer.

Details of the contest will be published Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

The Suarez Brothers Circus is no stranger to Jamaica, as it was first brought here by show promoter Ronnie Burke in the 1980s. Now, Burke’s relatives, acclaimed entertainment and show promoter Sharon Burke and her nephew Marlon Burke, have teamed to bring the circus back to the island for a third time.

Their company, Chebronx Ltd, is responsible for promoting the show which will play in major towns across the island until December, and which has attracted sponsorship from Jamaica National due to the fact that it offers wholesome family entertainment.

After Kingston, the circus will move to Montego Bay, then to Negril, then Savanna-la-Mar, after which it will play in Black River, then Santa Cruz, followed by Mandeville, then May Pen, Old Harbour, before ending in Portmore.

Last week in Ocho Rios, patrons were full of praise after watching the circus.

“It was really fun; I enjoyed the cycling,” one teen told the Observer.

“I enjoyed the magician,” said another patron.
