Back to My Roots, the debut album from Portmore-based artiste IamStylezMusic, debuts at number one on the Billboard Reggae Album chart for the week ending September 9.

The album was released on August 18 by Blaze Entertainment Records. It sold over 1,100 copies in opening week.

“I am very excited, grateful and proud of this achievement,” IamStylezMusic told the Jamaica Observer.

He spoke about the set’s concept.

“The Back to My Roots album is a direct reflection of my life. Each song is the piece of a puzzle to my past, present and future. This album includes songs about being raised in the ghetto, love stories, friendships, and good times. There is a song on the album for every situation life throws at you,” he said.

A number of producers worked on Back to My Roots including Jay Crazie, Richie Loop, Samacon, Prince Majestic, Natty Don, OGE Beats, Cinema Beats, Fire Production, and True Blue.

Richie Loop and Darrio are also featured on songs. A video for the first single, It’s A Pity, has been released.

Elsewhere, Damian Marley’s Stony Hill holds firm at number two, selling an additional 654 copies to clock 10,303 copies to date.

Chronology by Chronixx moves up to number three with an additional 215 copies, while Know No Better (EP) from Major Lazer is at number four.

Falling to number five is Live My Life Again, last week’s number one from Perfect Giddimani. Rebelution’s Falling Into Place, another number two, drops a notch to number six.

The compilation Reggae Gold 2017 moves to number seven, while jumping up 14 places to number eight is Nothing More to Say by The Frightnrs.

Live at Red Rocks by Rebelution is number nine, while Wash House Ting by J Boog completes the Top 10.

Sizzla’s I’m Yours falls from number three to 11, while the boxed set This is Trojan is number 12.

Soca Gold 2017 is down to number 13, while Lost in Paradise by Common Kings and Morgan Heritage’s Avrakedabra are numbers 14 and 15, respectively.
