ESHER, Hanover — Students of Esher Primary School in Hanover will at the start of the new academic year next Monday have access to a modern restroom facility following a recent $800,000 upgrading project of the school’s male and female restrooms.

The old toilets for both genders have been replaced with flush toilets, while modern urinals have been installed for the boys.

The project was made possible through the partnership with entities such as the National Commercial Bank (NCB) Foundation, which provided just under $100,000, the Grand Palladium Hotel and Staff Association $200,000 and $500,000 from Centerfield, a BPO company operating in St James.

Principal of Esher Primary, Anthonette Wright, told the Jamaica Observer West recently that the funds provided by Centerfield would assist in completing the project.

“So, it will now be a newly upgraded facility. We can now do the painting, finish the tiling and do the official handing over,” Wright said.

Centerfield marketing specialist, Johanna Gardner said the money given to Esher Primary forms part of the company’s goodwill gesture of giving to the community.

“We are a company that wants to get out in the community. That wants to give back…when we decided to do something, we said rather than just us (management) making a decision, we decided to reach out to our employees. And, when we did so, we got a number of schools, community centres, but there was one that stood out and that was Esher Primary School that is in Lucea,” he explained.

Gardner, who made the donation earlier this month added, “we just wanted to presented them with something to help. So, not only are we committed to growth, not only are we committed to job creation, but we are committed to the community in which we operate.”
