Gas prices up $3.41, diesel up $2.28
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Motorists should see an increase at the pumps in the price of gasoline and diesel, effective Thursday, September 7, according to the latest ex-refinery costs from Petrojam.
87- and 90-octane gasoline will be sold for $120.40 and $123.23 per litre, respectively, up by $3.41 each.
Automotive diesel fuel will be sold for $112.12 per litre following an increase of $2.28, while ultra-low sulphur diesel is up by $3.91, and will be sold for $118.74 per litre.
Meanwhile, kerosene increased in price by $3.68 and will be sold for $97.44 per litre. Propane liquid petroleum will be sold for $46.71 per litre, up by $1.27 and butane liquid petroleum will be sold for $53.45 per litre after an increase of $1.14.
Petrojam said “Movements in Petrojam’s product prices are reflective of changes in the prices of the relevant petroleum products within the US Gulf Coast (USGC) Region. As more refineries in the USGC region were significantly impacted by Hurricane Harvey, this resulted in further increases in the prices from the previous week, of transportation fuels. However we anticipate that as normalcy returns to refining in the USGC (region), it is expected that prices will normalize over the next few weeks. Prices were also impacted by movements in the foreign exchange rate over the past week. “
Marketing companies will add their mark-up to the announced prices.
