‘Play-play guns’ seized in Mt Salem ZOSO — Bunting
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Spokesperson on National Security Peter Bunting says that homemade guns found last week in the special zone of operations (ZOSO) in Mount Salem, St James are “play-play” guns, as they were merely pieces of board wrapped in tape.
According to the ZOSO Communication Unit, a total of five illegal guns, including two handmade guns, have been found in Mount Salem, which was declared the first ZOSO on September 1.
The two homemade guns were found on premises on Piggot Street in the parish.
Bunting, who was speaking this afternoon in Parliament, introduced statistics from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), which he said suggests that the homemade guns are not real, as they were not counted among police seizures for the week.
In defending the gun seizures, Holness said: “The weapons that were found were real weapons that were capable of discharging rounds.”
“These weapons have probably been used in the conduct of a crime, do not try and diminish it,” he told Bunting.
