Flash Flood Watch in effect for St Mary, eastern parishes
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St Mary, Portland, St Thomas, Kingston and St Andrew, until 5:00 am tomorrow, the Meteorological (Met) Service is reporting.
According to the Met Service, a tropical wave is currently affecting weather conditions across the island and it has forecast periods of light to moderate and, at times, heavy showers and thunderstorms to continue affecting the island this evening into tomorrow morning.
The Met Service added that a trough induced by Hurricane Jose is expected to contribute to shower activity through Monday.
A Flash Flood Watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures, keep informed by paying attention to further releases from the Met Service and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed or if a Warning is issued.
