Cops seize firearms in Rose Town and Cross Roads
KINGSTON, Jamaica— The police have reported the seizure of two firearms in Kingston over the weekend.
Reports from the Half-Way-Tree police are that a 9mm pistol with a magazine containing 14 rounds
was seized on Beechwood Avenue in Cross Roads on Saturday.
The police said that at that a team was conducting a vehicular check point at about 9:15 pm when the weapon was seized.
Two men on a motorcycle were stopped and searched and weapon found on the pillion.
Both men were taken into custody and the pillion, who has been identified as 36-year-old Dwayne Forbes, a security guard of Seacole Avenue, Denham Town, has been charged with breaches of the Firearms Act.
The driver of the motorcycle remains in custody.
Meanwhile, on Sunday a SCCY CPX1 9mm pistol with a magazine containing two rounds was found at the intersection of Duff Street and Georges Street in Rose Town.
Reports are that about 11:00 pm a police team was on mobile patrol in the area when a group of men fired several shots at them before escaping.
The area was searched and the weapon found in an open lot.
