Gordon & Jing Usher In Design Week JA
The buzz surrounding Design Week JA — the latest initiative by the Jamaica Observer to spotlight the lifestyle industries — spilt over onto the plate Tuesday morning at the newspaper’s Beechwood Avenue HQ for a brunch catered by Whip It Up front woman Celeste Gordon and pâtissier extraordinaire Jing Shi. Gordon opened brunch with baked eggs with grilled tomatoes, bacon and Scotch bonnet creamed callaloo followed by a course of pumpkin spice waffles with brandied apples, cream cheese drizzle and granola crisp, a sweet and savoury juxtaposition, which made way for the sugar rush to come à la Jing’s tasting medley of mousses and tarts. Thursday Food narrows its gaze on the creations of this complementary duo.
The Jamaica Observer boardroom was the venue for the Design Week JA launch, where CelesteGordon’s fare and Jing Shi’s sweet treats were highlights.
