THE inaugural staging of the Quest Super Series Tennis Tournament is expected to feature several of Jamaica’s top players. It is scheduled to begin this 3:00 pm afternoon and is to end on Sunday.

Competition will be mainly for the top players in the boys’ and girls’ categories.

The Quest tournament promises to be a high intensity event, which will showcase the quality of top-ranking Jamaican players.

Damani Cain, Jamaica’s junior champion is seeded at one, while Tariq Simon is seeded at two in the Boys 18 and under category. However, there will be more players who will be challenging the top two seeds in the boys’ singles.

The series will also see the skills of Jamaica’s number one girls’ tennis player Michaela Stephens, who recently attended the Ace Tennis Academy in Canada.

Other top Jamaica players who will also be in action are Selena Bird and Emma Dibbs playing in their respective categories.

Nine-year-old Alyssa James has been creating a storm, and having beaten players above her age group, will also be participating.

Many prominent players from Montego Bay are expected to participate and will be challenging strongly. They could produce some major upsets against the seeded players, especially in the boys’ and girls’ 18 and under singles.

Money raised from the tournament will be used to assist with the development of tennis in Jamaica by starting a youth academy for young players.
