UPDATE: 13 people held in connection with seizure of rifles in St James
ST JAMES, Jamaica — The police are reporting that 12 men and a woman were taken into custody following the seizure of four high-powered M16 rifles, a Glock .45 pistol and 87 assorted rounds of ammunition in Flanker, St James, today.
Reports from the St James Police are that a joint police/military team conducted operations between 4:00 am and 2:00 pm in the Bronx area of Flanker, where a premises was searched and the weapons and ammunition allegedly found.
The police said that the identities of the thirteen people taken into custody are being withheld as they are being processed.
Over the past week the police seized approximately 26 firearms and over 390 assorted rounds of ammunition in operations across the island.
