TRYALL, Hanover —Karlene Blagrove won her fourth- straight 10K title at Saturday’s 10th staging of the CUMI Come Run event held at the scenic Tryall Club in Hanover, while Ryon Chambers won his first in the men’s section.

A record 860 entries were received for the event, the main fund-raiser for the Committee for the Upliftment of the Mentally Ill — which saw six events: two 10K races, two 5K races and two 5K walks.

Chambers, who was taking part in the event for the first time, clocked 36 minutes and 41 seconds to beat last year’s champion, Ronique Williams, who was almost three and half minutes back, with Jermaine Palmer third in 40 minutes 27 seconds.

Despite his comfortable win, Chambers said the course was “a good challenge in the first part”, adding that having to double the course for the 10K helped.

Blagrove, who clocked 48 minutes 50 seconds, admitted to being “a bit nervous”.

“I knew I had to come good to win today (Saturday) and the first 5k I was pressured, but I just relaxed and said all the hard work [that I put in] must come into play. It’s a tough and awesome route and I always love running it every year, even though I keep telling myself that this is the last time,” said the 46-year-old Blagrove.

Danielle Terrier was second in the female 10K in 51 minutes, while Rochelle Smalling was third in 52 minutes four seconds.

Kemar Leslie won the men’s 5K in 16 minutes and 57 seconds, beating Troy Pennington with 18 minutes and 41 seconds, while Ricardo Josephs was third in 19 minutes and 55 seconds.

Jozanne Harris won the female 5K in 23 minutes four seconds ahead of Nadia Stanberry with 26 minutes three seconds and Franciska Haynes, third in 26 minutes 48 seconds.
